"Compare Price At" -Function Doesn't Currently Work?

Topic summary

A Shopify store owner using the Brooklyn theme reported that the “Compare Price At” function (showing strikethrough original prices alongside discounted prices) wasn’t displaying on mobile or desktop browsers. The issue appeared to affect Chrome browsers specifically, while Mozilla and Edge showed prices correctly on desktop.

Root Cause Identified:
GemPages support team diagnosed the problem: the “Hide compare-at prices for European Economic Area (EEA) customers” setting was enabled in Shopify’s market preferences.

Solution:
Navigate to Settings > Market > Preferences and uncheck the EEA price-hiding feature.

The store owner confirmed this resolved the issue, noting they had previously attempted troubleshooting through code edits and app reinstallations. They suspect EU customers may have only seen discounted prices (without comparison pricing) since before the previous Christmas sales period, potentially affecting other merchants as well.

Has anyone else noticed that Compare Price At -function doesn’t work currently on mobile or on laptop?

Example: “$39.98 $19.99” shows only as “$19.99”. I use Brooklyn theme for multiple websites.

If others are not experiencing this problem currently, it could be problem with the Brooklyn theme code or some apps? I currently use “Discount Saved” and “Currency Bear Converter” Apps on both websites that show has this error currently. Tried to disable and enable them without success of fixing the error.

Thanks in advance!

Update:

They seem to work on laptop, if you use Mozilla and Edge, instead of Chrome Browser.

But with Samsung Android phones default browser Compare Price At -function seems to be invisible. Hope its just my phone, not what my customers see. Chrome Browser seems to work on mobile.

That’s absolutely it!

Thanks for your response, I have been editing the code and trying to install and un-install price related apps to figure this one out. I wonder how long EU customers have only seen the discounted price. Seems that others have faced this problem already before the Christmas sale period of last year.

Hopefully your answer will help others as well :slightly_smiling_face:
