Completely Removing Unneeded Tags

Hello! I accidentally made several customer tags that are not needed. I would like to completely remove them from the website so that they won’t even show up in the suggested tags. Is there a way to do this?

Shopify doesn’t have a built-in way to delete unused customer tags entirely, but you can clean them up by removing them from all customers.

Here’s how:

  • Go to Shopify Admin → Customers.
  • Filter by the tag you want to remove.
  • Select all customers with that tag → Actions → Remove tags.
  • Once a tag is removed from all customers, Shopify will eventually stop suggesting it.
