Creating Email Signup with New Account

Hi - I am using the Impulse theme for reference. I am also using the ‘New’ customer registration system after using the Classic system for some time. I have seen straight away with the ‘New’ system that there is no option for new users to opt in to email marketing when they create a new customer account. This is standard on every other ecommerce platform. Am I missing something? I’m not doing anything fancy - I’m using Shopify’s native email app and I just want users to be able to subscribe to marketing when they create a new account.
