I am wondering if I am missing something and hope someone can help!
I have created a custom shipping profile for some products. I have set the rates to ship these products by weight (using USPS Media Mail), but I would also like to give customers the option of expedited shipping using a carrier calculated rate. All looks good on the Manage Shipping Profile page but the calculated carrier rate (DHL Express in this case) is not showing up when I test out checkout. (Yes, I did save the Shipping Profile Page!)
Is it an option to have both my rates and the carrier rates show in the checkout process?
You can certainly show both your own flat rates as well as calculated carrier shipping rates on checkout.
Have you checked that the products you tested on checkout are included within the correct shipping profile on your shipping settings?
The other potential reason that the DHL Express Worldwide service isn’t showing up on checkout is because perhaps this particular service isn’t available to deliver to the particular address you’ve inputted on checkout. It may also be that the package’s total weight doesn’t meet the service’s requirements too. Because Shopify pulls the live shipping rates directly from DHL, you can check on their website here, or contact their support team to see if your package is deliverable via their Express Worldwide service.
Alternatively, our support team can also take a closer look at your store from our end to see if we can spot anything else. We aren’t able to do this via the Community Forums at this time, so to get in touch with our support team you’ll need to login to your store via our Help Centre here, then type in your question or the topic you need help with. After that, you should see the Get Support heading at the very bottom of the page, and you can click Continue to start a support request. From there, our support team will be able to take a closer look at your store and help you troubleshoot this matter further.
I did indeed end up contacting support. It turned out that while I was offered DHL Express as a carrier calculated option for a domestic (US) shipment, DHL Express is an international service that is not available for a US delivery. Which is why it wasn’t showing up as an option in checkout.
Ah I see, glad you were able to get further clarification on this from our support team!
Thanks for popping back here to update us on your findings, hopefully this will help other users in our Community Forums who may have a similar query to this one.
Hello,
I have a similar issue. We have our own Fedex rates added to our store. I created a new shipping profile to exclude certain items from triggering our Media Mail option. When those items are chosen, only USPS appears even though our Fedex account is also apart of the shipping profile (same settings as our general shipping profile).
The only times that fedex appears, is if my cart ONLY has items that WILL ship via Media Mail. Carts with any items that dont qualify, will hide both media mail and Fedex. What can I do to have our fedex option appear on both shipping profiles?
If you only have one service selected, you can try and add more FedEx services to give customers more options to choose from. Some services may also have limitations in regards to what address they can ship to, as well as weight and dimension restrictions. So enabling more FedEx services may allow you to see a FedEx service appear more consistently on your store’s checkout.
If you’re still having issues with this matter however, you can contact our live support team via our help centre here.
