Customer auto discount not showing at cart

I’m having a hard time with this. i have set up a new customer account, a discount for them, and testing it, i don’t see the auto discount at their shopping cart.

Hi, @ASis .

There may be several reasons why the discount isn’t showing up on cart, I’ll outline this below for you:

  • If the automatic discount is for a Buy X get Y discount, then you’ll need to add in the Y product on cart in order for the system to apply the discount to the cart. I’ve provided a visual example from my test store below, so that you can see what the discount looks like when both X and Y products have been included on cart:

  • You should also double check that the products on cart match the conditions that were set out on the discount. For example, if the automatic discount is for a specific collection, make sure that all products on cart are from the collection that is specified in your discount rules.

  • Is the discount currently active? Make sure to check the active dates on the discount, to ensure that it’s currently live and available for testing. You can always change the start date to today’s date for testing purposes, and to change it back again to a future date once you’ve finished with your testing.

It’s hard to tell for sure without seeing the discount conditions on your Shopify admin, as well as your cart page. So if you’re still having issues with this, feel free to reply to this thread with some screenshots of your discount conditions as well as your cart page, and that’ll help us look into this further.

Thank you Kimi for your reply.

I did find out how to do it.

Many people are having the same issue: setting up a group of customers, let’s say, Trade, with a permanent auto discount, which required tagging. Shopify doesn’t have this feature at the moment. The only Auto Discount is to be used only once and shows up at cart for everyone. The other option is Code Disc, but inconvenient because people lose these. So the thing is to have the specific Tradesperson login to their accounts, and have the auto dics. show up at cart. Many in the chat were pointing to expensive apps, some with features that wouldn’t be needed. So, one app popped up - (the only way to do it at the moment) - Regios Automatic Discounts. Check it out.

Thanks.

Ah I see, appreciate the update @ASis .

Great to hear you managed to find the right app that allows you to offer the automatic discounts for specific customers.

I definitely understand your perspective here—some apps do tend to cost quite a bit, which can result in a lot of hesitance from merchants in installing them, especially when adding it to the long list of already available costs for your business. As you’ve pointed out however, at this stage there are current limitations to the Shopify platform, and these limitations can be overcome by the installation of third-party apps.

I can see how beneficial it’ll be to add the automatic customer discount feature natively to our platform though, so I’ll leave this as feedback to our developers. While we won’t be able to guarantee that all feature requests or feedback will be implemented, you’ll be able to find the most up to date feature releases to our platform via our Changelog here.
