Discount code "Limit to one use per customer" checkbox allowing multiple uses

Our client has a discount code that allows users to get 50% off a single product from a certain collection.

The “Limit to one use per customer” checkbox is checked to ensure a user can only use the code once, however recently there have been 2 incidents that shouldn’t have happened.

  1. A user was able to use the discount code on 2 separate orders.
  2. A user was able to use the discount code twice on the same order.

Neither of these should be possible with the checkbox selected. It seems it’s only just started because the code has been active since January, and the client has only informed us of the issue recently.

Are you running on shopify Plus and using shopify checkout scripts that may be running different discount rules?

While this shouldn’t be possible, there are several discount condition combinations that can lead to non-obvious discounted situations.

Double check the discount condition logic for allowing multiple “off a single product from a certain collection”.

Check that the emails, etc are exactly the same and no character tricks.

Thank you Paul,

The client is on “Advanced Shopify” according to their plan settings. I don’t know where that sits on the plan hierarchy.

Double check the discount condition logic for allowing multiple " off a single product from a certain collection".

I’m relatively new to Shopify, where would I check for this logic? Is it something in the code, or do I need to check the individual discount codes?

I checked the orders and both were made on the same email address, with no fanciness or tricks that I could see.

In the discounts admin of shopify , or if they are using an app then in the app.
