Topic summary
Main issue: A persistent DNS error on a Shopify-purchased domain (>4 days). The system prompts fixes for A record, CAA, and DNSSEC, but only the A record is visible in Shopify and is already set.
Recent updates: One participant’s domain setup completed in ~1 day, suggesting possible DNS propagation or registrar update delays. The domain is confirmed as purchased directly from Shopify.
Shopify staff guidance: Domain setup typically completes within a couple of days and requires an emailed domain verification. They ask whether verification was completed and advise using live chat via the Shopify Help Center to investigate account-specific issues, as the Community cannot access merchant accounts.
Technical notes:
- A record: maps a domain to an IP address.
- CAA: specifies which certificate authorities can issue SSL certificates for the domain.
- DNSSEC: adds cryptographic validation to DNS responses.
Status: Unresolved/ongoing.
Next steps:
- Locate and complete the domain verification email.
- Contact Shopify Support through the Help Center for diagnostics.
- Confirm any DNS changes have propagated or been updated by the registrar.
I just did that myself few days ago, it took only one day to make it work.
So maybe your domain hosting company is not updating your dns configuration?
yes, I purchased domain from shopify
Did you try to contact shopify support?
Hey, @solawaveeee .
Thank you for reaching out and bringing this to our attention.
The domain should only take a couple of days to complete the setup and there will be an email sent to you for verifying the domain. Did you complete the domain verification?
