Does adding staff members on Basic Shopify ease the overwhelming startup process?

Hi :waving_hand:t2:

I’m new to Shopify and I find it extremely overwhelming. You make your account and it hits you with a million and one things all at once. I’ve likely got undiagnosed ADHD and things that are overwhelming make me lose interest, I had decided that I was just going to delete my account and try and do it all on my own but I clicked on the subscriptions plans that you can have and I saw that you can have staff members: I’d go for the most popular Basic one where you can have 2 staff members. Does this mean you can find someone and have them share your Shopify account with you to help you with your business or does this mean that Shopify will help you find 2 staff members to help you with your business? - Because I was thinking, If I could have a staff member to help me with my business on Shopify I’d likely not find it as overwhelming.

  • Does anyone else find it slightly overwhelming?

Thanks in advance to anyone who replies :victory_hand:t2:

Hello @Dionnes_Dogs ,

Excellent work on choosing Shopify :raised_fist:

Your first guess was correct. They mean you add 2 additional users of your choosing.

Shopify is simply the service; they will not help you with sales, hiring, marketing, etc.

While they will help you navigate and understand Shopify’s Admin area and settings, you are expected to know quite about eCommerce and website management. You may find hiring a Shopify Expert or small agency to handle the store management and teach you about the platform along the way, but that is, of course, an investment of its own.

I hope that helps. Best of luck on your journey!

Hey, @Dionnes_Dogs

Welcome to Shopify!

I see you were already provided an answer to your question. However, I wanted to jump in and let you know you can do this on your own.

I definitely appreciate it seems overwhelming at first, there are lots of moving parts! That being said, we have some great resources and tutorials to get you started and understand how things work. For example, whether you are dropshipping or not, our Dropshipping 101 course goes through step-by-step each of the components that go into setting up a functioning and successful store. Additionally, we have a launch checklist that includes this information as well, with lots of details videos and step-by-step instructions.

I recommend working on doing this yourself and taking advantage of the 3 months for $1 trial period. This will save you a lot of money that you can then invest into marketing instead of the store building.
