Does erasing parameters improve image URL SEO?

Hi there,

I 've been changing my original files name and alt text, wishing to get better on SERP and optimize my page.

I was wondering if image URL like this: https://cdn.shopifycdn.net/s/files/1/1657/1357/files/wagon-wheel-chandelier-with-gold-finish.jpg?v=1644226628 are good for SEO. Should I probably erase the ?v=1644226628 or just leave it there.

Also, I would like to know how to open my site map. I tried Sitemap: http://example.com/sitemap_location.xml but it won’t open

Much appreciated,

Bob

Hi @BobMoir

  1. Search crawlers usually use filenames, image titles, and ALT tags in order to identify your page.
It’s great that you have added keywords to your image filename. If you can remove ?v=1644226628, it will be better.
Shortener and neater image filenames are better for SEO.

If you are having issues with the whole renaming of your files, I suggest using AVADA SEO Suite, and you can do it in bulk.

  1. XML sitemap is generated by Shopify automatically.
    It’s often https://example.com/sitemap.xml

Hi there,

It is really helpful and I appreciate your time.

Can I use AVADA app to remove ?v=1644226628? I’ve changed the file name to be neat but I still see the code ?v=1644226628? remaining. It would be much appreciated if you could teach me how to fix that.

Best,

Bob

Hi @BobMoir

Sorry for not getting back to your sooner.

Yes. AVADA SEO Suite can help you remove this ?v=1644226628? from the filename.
In the app, you only need to enable the function, set the pattern for your filename.
