Does Shopify have a review feature, and how good is it?

Hi - does Shopify have the option to collect product and/or shop reviews?

I currently use the free version of Trustpilot, but unfortunately the widgets are not very good at actually displaying reviews on a website.

I also have lots of reviews through CusRev, which I would like to manually input into the review system (against products) in Shopify. Would this be possible?

Hi Jj37,

They used to have a product review app however, as of May 6, 2024, the Product Reviews app is no longer available to install. You no longer have access to your existing product reviews in your admin, and reviews from the app no longer display on your store. To continue collecting and displaying product reviews on your store, you need to migrate to another product review app.

Most of the options on the link above provide import tools as well. If you are using Google my Business you can also display reviews from that through apps like this (free option available).

Thanks for the info Patrick. However, why would shopify choose to remove a native review function? A primary and non-negotiable element to any e-commerce platform is the ability to obtain reviews… seems rather counter intuitive to remove it…

I completely agree! I even started a thread back in 2022 about the app’s issues (link).

One thing to realize is that Shopify doesn’t make any money from adding extra features like this natively, and the review business is very lucrative.

I think it ultimately comes down to not having enough resources to create an app that matches the advanced functionalities that third-party app developers offer. I think they didn’t do anything to the app after release and it had terrible reviews. They have all the tools in house to create something great.

Shopify no longer has its Product Reviews app thus it doesn’t natively collect reviews, but you have alternatives such as:

— Shop App: Allows collection of verified feedback from the Shop channel.

— Third-Party Apps: Opinew, Judge. me, or Yotpo applications have better widgets than Trustpilot’s free plan and handle product/shop reviews.

Importing CusRev Reviews

Can it be done? Yes

Export customer reviews from CusRev as CSV files then import them into any Shopify app (e. g., Judge. me or Opinew) using CSV or manual entry and ensure that you match product IDs.

Recommendation

Choose collecting and integrating systems with CusRev from the following options available at no cost: switching to Judge. me (which offers free plan CSV imports) or Opinew.

No, Shopify dosen’t have any native reviews app. For reviews, you can use AiTrillion which includes various functionalities like Review email reminder, Review slider, Review Gallery and many more.
