Can someone please tell me if shopify actually allow a trial or not.
I set up a trial store, it went inactive straight away so I contacted support, after support eventually contacted me to resolve this, I have found I can not access the store as the trial has expired.
Do Shopify just advertise a free trial and then charge you for a plan anyway so the trial is not free at all?
Yes, all new merchants start on the Trial plan and have 14 days to set up and work on their store before a subscription is required. Even if a merchant choose a subscription before these 14 days are up, they will not pay for their subscription until the trial period has concluded.
If you had an issue with your store during the trial period, you can get in touch with our support team again and ask them for a trial extension. We are typically happy to grant extra trial days if you weren’t able to access your store during this period and have not yet chosen a plan. You are also welcome to start a new store and receive the 14 day trial again; we do not limit the number of stores a merchant can start.
You can pick a plan during your trial period and then begin selling, and you won’t be charged until your trial expires. Picking a plan allows you to disable the password page, meaning customers can then visit your site and access the checkout.
If you’re new to Shopify, I’d also recommend checking out our Getting Started with Shopify course over on Shopify Learn, our educational hub. Please let me know if you have any further questions.
