Does using Shopify POS incur additional per-transaction fees for in-store sales?

My client with a kitesurfing shop (physical store in cape town south africa, plus website) is using shopify basic at $25 per month

For online sales we pay a percentage to shopify per transaction on top of the credit card fees to 3rd party payment provider.

For retail POS for in store selling client uses a 3rd party POS but considering switching POS to shopify.

in-store the client uses a 3rd party card machine to take payments, i.e. shopify does not process the payment

QUESTON: will my client also pay a percentage per-transaction fee to shopify for in-store customers?

if so how much?

The documentation on shopify site is not clear on this, but it looks like this fee may be applicable

Anecdiotally anoptehr friend has the same setup and does NOT pay per transaction for in-store transactions

In the USA they wouldn’t. We don’t. I assume the same in other countries.

To confirm, no your friend would not be charged additional transaction fees for collecting payment in person through a third party gateway. They would only be charged additional fees if collecting payments through a third party on their online website through Shopify.
