Domain name verification error after contact info update: What can I do?

I keep getting an email to verify to my domain name as i’ve updated my contact information, on the email there is a link for me to click to verify my however every time they send it the link just appears as an error, it’s not saying i have 4 days until my domain name is suspended because i haven’t followed the instructions on the link as it’s not working. I tried speaking to support last week, and they weren’t much help, he said to ignore the email but i really don’t want my domain name to be suspended. What should i do? Any advice would be greatly appreciated

Hi, @shopcamie !

This is Rae from Shopify.

Thanks for reaching out about verifying your domain. I understand your concern with this situation, and I’d like to help take a closer look into this.

As a starting point, did you purchase your domain from Shopify, or from a third-party provider?

Can you also confirm if you’re currently seeing a message about verifying your domain anywhere within your Shopify admin? In most cases when domain verification is required, a yellow banner will appear in the ‘Online store > Domains’ section of your admin. If you’re not seeing this banner, or any other warning about this in your Shopify admin, please let me know.

However, if you are seeing a message about this in your Shopify admin, there are a few reasons why the domain may not be verifying correctly, such as:

  • You’re using a .co.uk domain
  • You’re using an AOL or Yahoo email address
  • You’re using a forwarding email address to verify your domain, and this email address contains the same domain you’re trying to verify, like what’s described here

If any of those reasons apply to you and your domain, just let me know and we can determine the best way to proceed with getting the domain verified.

In terms of the email you’re receiving though, which email address is this coming from? Can you also please confirm which error you’re seeing when you click the link inside the email? Feel free to share some screenshots with me that show these details, but it’s important to make sure all of your sensitive, store-specific information is removed from these images before sharing them here.

Keep me posted on the above points and I’ll be happy to continue looking into this further!

Hey!

Thank you for your reply, no there’s no other warning within my Shopify admin about my domain. The email it’s getting sent from is no-reply@registrar.shopify.com, is this a legit email?

When i click the link it just says 404 Error. I’ll attach screenshots of this and the email.

Thank you

Hi, @shopcamie !

I appreciate you getting back to me with these details!

As a first step, I wanted to let you know that I removed the first two screenshots from your reply. I noticed these images contained both your domain, and your email address, so removing them should help protect your privacy.

Thank you for sharing more details on the email you received. The 'no-reply@registrar.shopify.com email is a legitimate email address, and the correct address we would expect this email to come from. However, you typically shouldn’t receive a 404 error when clicking the link inside this email.

To help resolve this, I recommend reaching out to our Support team directly for more assistance. I know you mentioned that you spoke with our team about this in the past, but I do suggest contacting us again so that we can help look into this situation.
