Even though I entered a value for stock,
the shop still says out of stock.

Do you have more than one location in Settings/Locations? If yes, is the inventory for the product setup to accept online orders? You can check this by clicking the location in the settings:
You can enable the location to fulfill online orders, or you can move the inventory to a different location.
If that doesn’t resolve the issue, then I would suggest contacting Shopify Support so they can look into the account. You can do this by logging into your store through the help center, searching your question/issue, then selecting “continue” at the bottom of the page that displays the search results.
