My favicon isnt showing, ive tried everything from changing the file type to changing the pixls. it has been showing for the last year but last week it stopped showing and this week the font has changed on my website! Not sure whats going on with shopify but ive sorted the font i just need to get my favicon back

Hi @UncleGym

  • In your Shopify admin, go to Settings → Brand → Brand Assets (older versions: Online Store → Themes → Customize → Theme settings → Favicon).
  • Make sure a favicon is uploaded and saved (ideally a 32x32px or 48x48px .png or .ico file)

Go to Online Store → Themes → Edit Code.
Open theme.liquid.
Inside the tag, add:

<link rel="icon" href="{{ 'favicon.png' | asset_url }}" type="image/png">

(make sure you upload favicon.png to Assets).

Mine isn’t showing either. Nor is my google sec working

If you changed something like changing file names you’ll need to re-upload the favicon in Preferences. And it takes a while for Google to update. It’s not an instant process.

I hope this message finds you well.
When did you last update your favicon? Sometimes it takes a little time to reflect, but if it’s been more than 5–7 days, then it might be a concern.
you should Clear browser cache (or favicon cache).
Hope this will solve your problem, if not , share store url and collaborator code in personal message ( collaborator code should not be shared in public ).

There’s really nothing you can do to force the name to display instead of the url. It’s Google that decides. The website’s pretty new, I would do some brand building to increase its reputation. Google can display the url instead of the name if it feels uncertain about your website. - “if our system is less confident in a name you provided, it may sometimes generate site names using other sources or show a domain or subdomain name.”

Yes thats right, it works in the tab bar when your on the website but its not working in google search and its really hurting my ctr

It may take some time for Google to index your favicon after adding a new one, before it can be displayed in Google’s organic search results. Typically, it takes 3-7 days.
