why can i not add shipping profiles from the product edit page? what a silly system having to leave the page and go to a different one i want to add shipping profiles when i add or edit products without changing pages
Hi @altoe Welcome To Shopify Community So Yeah, this is a known limitation — there’s no direct shipping profile field on the product page itself, you have to go through Settings > Shipping and delivery to assign it. Workaround: if your profiles are set up by product type/vendor, new products can auto-inherit the right profile without extra steps. Worth posting this in Shopify’s Feedback area too, since it’s a common pain point.

I agree, it would be much easier to manage this directly from the product editor. For now, you can assign products to a shipping profile from Settings → Shipping and delivery → General shipping rates, then add the relevant products to the profile there.
If you’re regularly adding products with the same shipping rules, setting up your profiles based on product type/vendor can also reduce the amount of manual assignment needed.

I’ve found that workflow can seem artificially disjointed. Shipping profiles are handled separately because they are not a product level setting, and can be used on multiple products and locations.
A handy workaround is to make or update the shipping profile first, then you add products to it from the profile’s product management section. For large catalogs, saved product views and mass editing can also help limit the number of times you switch pages. It would be nice to be able to assign a profile right in product editor, especially for shops where it sells new products regularly.
