Getting good traffic on my website with a super enthusiastic audience, yet no sales

Hi, I hope I’m posting this at the right place,

I’ve launched my own alternative fashion brand, and I’m creating short form content on TikTok and Instagram to organically build myself an audience and drive traffic towards my website, but despite good traffic and a super enthusiastic audience I am getting very few sales.

I started blowing up on these platforms a little while ago. Had a lot of super positive feedback and enthusiasm from people, getting a lot of traffic on my brand’s website, yet only a few sales. I then decided to suspend online posting to really focus on optimizing my website for increased conversion (I gotta admit, my website was super lackluster back then) then recently posting back again a few days ago now that my website is improved, and I’m starting to get more traction once more, my shopify dashboard tells me there’s constant live visitors on my platform, yet this time no sales yet at all.

I’m trying to see what I could improve to drive more sales. It seems like I have a line of product that strongly resonates with my target demographic, a social media campaign that’s getting a fair amount of people’s attention and a more than serviceable website to direct them to buy from.

Is this just due to the fact that I’m a new business and that I should keep on building my brand and trust with my audience/customers?

Should I just be patient and keep on posting short form content and driving people towards my website until I’m better established and people are less hesitant to buy? Or is there a glaring issue that I’m not seeing, or trick that I’m not applying that’s nulling my potential sales?

Any constructive feedback would be greatly appreciated!!

Hi @Over_Heavens ,

Firstly, congratulations on your new store! It’s evident that you’ve put a lot of effort into building it. However, it’s quite common for new businesses to experience low sales initially. Given your situation, it’s worth considering a holistic approach that includes both optimizing your website design and implementing effective customer support tools to enhance the overall shopping experience and drive conversions.

  • Review your website design to ensure it provides a seamless and intuitive browsing experience for visitors. Clear navigation, visually appealing product displays, and easy-to-find information can all contribute to improving conversion rates.

Hi @Over_Heavens ,

This is Ellie from BOGOS.io Free gift. Sounds like you’ve done a great job building your brand on social media, congratulations! However, if you’re seeing a lot of traffic but few conversions, it might be helpful to analyze your approach using the 4Ps Marketing Mix (Product, Price, Promotion, Place). Here’s how you can apply this framework to identify potential areas for improvement.

1. Product

  • Make sure that your products meet the expectation set by your social content. Also, does the quality or design of your items align with the current trends that customers love?
  • Check if you have enough variety to appeal to different preferences. You can try adding more options, or asking customers their feedbacks and tweak existing products (just a little) so they fit customers’ needs

2. Price

  • Evaluate your pricing. Is it a competitive pricing within your niche? If you products are priced higher, make sure that the perceived value justifies the cost. On the other hand, if your items are priced too low, people might doubt it quality
  • Use discounts, exclusive promotions for your social media followers to encourage more purchases

3. Promotion

  • If you’re already on Tiktok, Instagram, try to diversify your content. You can include customer testimonials, BTS videos, product highlights to build trust and interest
  • Engage directly with your audience by responding to customers comments, asking for feedbacks etc to build the community and encourage them to purchase
  • Retargeting Ads: Many people need more exposures to the brand before they decide to buy. Consider using retargeting ads to bring back visitors who did not purchase

4. Place

  • I’m happy to know that you have improved your website. Please also make sure they are optimized on mobile too, since 80% of the purchases are made on mobile devices.
  • SEO and Speed: Slow website can impact your sales. Remember to optimize your site for search engines and ensure the speed is fast
  • Checkout should be as quick and easy as possible. Reduce the steps needed to complete a purchase, and ensure there are multiple payment options

Building a brand indeed takes time. Please keep experimenting what works or your brand, and you’ll likely see your conversion rates improve.

With you all the best with your bussiness. :love_letter:

Best,

Ellie

Hello @Over_Heavens ,

I am Gasper from the HAPO Apps Team.

Regarding your question, in my opinion, you should focus more on building your brand because currently, your brand is newly launched. At this point, investing in social media marketing is extremely necessary, especially for a fashion brand. I highly recommend you build channels on TikTok, Instagram, and Facebook. Use TikTok, Reels, and all the best communication methods you have. However, remember to build a story around your brand and help people better recognize your brand.

Secondly, optimize your products. This is definitely essential. Focus on researching and observing competitors in the same industry, drawing lessons and experiences for yourself to develop your products better. Additionally, you can totally ask for feedback from previous customers to better understand their needs.

Thirdly, focus on special occasions throughout the year. Create promotional programs, and vouchers to attract new customers and retain old customers. This will cost you some profit, but in the long run, when you have a stable customer base, your revenue will increase rapidly.

Fourthly, I think you should share your store URL so that everyone in the Shopify Community can give you feedback to improve your store to be more optimized.

I hope my comments help you.
