Google does not understand our home region

Our main domain .com was assigned to a wrong market on Shopify (the market which is not our home region).

Google started to rank us in the English speaking countries rather than our home country - UAE.

What shall we do now to let Google know that our home region is different

Hi @user2048

It’s David from SearchPie here.

That’s a frustrating situation, but it is definitely fixable. The key is to correct your setup in Shopify and then tell Google about the change.

First, go to your Shopify admin under Settings > Markets. You need to make the UAE your primary market and then assign your main .com domain directly to it. This tells Shopify that your home base is the UAE, and it will automatically update the technical signals on your site for Google.

To speed up the process, go to your Google Search Console account, use the “URL Inspection” tool on your homepage, and click “Request Indexing.” This prompts Google to take a fresh look at your site and see the new directions. After that, just be patient, as it can take a few weeks for your search rankings to fully adjust to the correct country.

Hope this helps!

Thanks a lot - much appreciated.

If I have other markets in the Shopify Markets, is it better to assign to them specific sub-domains so that Google did not confuse them again?
