Google merchant center - Limited performance due to missing value [ GTIN ] issue

Topic summary

Main issue: Google Merchant Center reports “missing value [GTIN]” despite GTIN/barcodes being present on Shopify product pages.

Context: Merchant is using Shopify’s free Google Shopping app. A respondent states the app has not correctly handled product identifiers for over six months and may not be fixed soon.

Impact: Products are flagged as missing GTIN in Merchant Center, which can limit ad and listing performance. This misalignment persists even when barcodes exist in Shopify.

Proposed fix: Use a third‑party feed app (e.g., Multiple Google Shopping Feeds) that correctly passes GTIN to Google. The suggested app is paid.

Outcome: The paid app resolves the issue for the original poster; GTINs are recognized.

Open question: Request for a free solution remains; none confirmed in the thread.

Definition: GTIN (Global Trade Item Number) is a standardized product code required by Google for many products.

Status: No confirmed fix for the free Shopify app; discussion remains open pending a free workaround.

GTIN Is available in the product page of shopify but still the google merchant center show GTIN is missing in google merchant center. I have tried many solution from community old post but seems not working. Any updated working solution will be thanksful.

If you have barcodes in Shopify, and you are using the free google shopping app built by Shopify, then yes this is an issue with the app. It has now for 6+ months not worked correctly regarding product identifiers. And I doubt they will fix it.

I recommend instead to use a different app such as: https://apps.shopify.com/multiple-google-shopping-feeds

Which does not have this issue.

Thanks for answer paid app is working fine. Please update me if any free solution is available
