Having trouble changing your domain from Big Cartel to Go Daddy?

I previously had a big cartel store. I removed the domain from the big cartel page and all the big cartel info from the go daddy account.

However I tried to do it automatically through shopify and go daddy and now it just says the page cant be found.

Would love some advice!

Hi, @magnoliastudios .

Without looking at your Shopify admin, the error message you’re seeing could be occurring because of a browser caching issue. You can troubleshoot this on your end by following the steps below:

  • Try to access your Shopify admin and connect your domain via an incognito window
  • Or, you can use your usual browser but to clear the browser’s cookies and cache prior to connecting your domain on Shopify
  • You can also try another browser. For example, if you’re using Safari, you can try completing this on Chrome or Firefox
  • You can also try to use another device, such as your mobile, a tablet, or a different laptop or computer if you have access to one

Let me know how you get on with the steps above!

Just to make sure, are you following the steps on this third-party domain guide, when attempting to connect your GoDaddy domain? If you’re still having issues with this, even after completing the troubleshooting steps above and following our third-party domain guide, you can contact our Live Support team so that we can take a closer look at this situation from our end. Just a heads up though that because this matter involves a third-party domain, if there’s a potential issue with the domain you may also have to contact your domain provider for further assistance. But do contact our Live Support team to begin with, so that we can perform initial troubleshooting on your account from our end.

To get in touch with our team, you’ll need to login to your store via our help centre here. Once logged in, select a topic that best fits your query or situation. From there, you’ll be taken to a page with a list of relevant support articles, and you can scroll to the bottom of that page to select your preferred contact method with our team.

Once you’ve successfully connected your domain to your Shopify store, it’s also a good idea to set up an email address with your custom domain. This will help your business appear more professional, which will then also strengthen buyers’ trust. We don’t currently offer email hosting natively through Shopify, but Zoho Mail and Google Workspace are commonly used providers that you can look into to host your store’s custom email.

Apart from this, if you’re thinking of selling internationally, adding international domains will allow you to localise your store to buyers worldwide, which will provide them with a more positive shopping experience on your store. I’ll leave you with a few of our resources below to help with selling internationally:
