Having trouble creating custom pages with specific product grids on Dawn theme?

I’ve run into some very basic issues and I believe it’s an issue with my work flow. Now my site is a dogs breakfast.

I’m working with the Dawn theme.

I’m trying to add pages that have custom headers and content. On that page is a product grid that shows products that are specific to that page.

Here’s my work flow

1. Customize theme

2. Select collections from drop down

3. Create template based on default collection

4. I make changes to the header image and content. ( This is where I run into my first problem. I can not edit the product grid. It’s the same collection as the default grid.)

5. I then go to pages and create a new page, when I try to assign a template to the page, I don’t see it in the drop down menu.

I’m really confused here about the basics. How do I create custom pages that have the proper products in a grid section? Can any one help me ?

Hi @kirkcanada , you need to go store admin > Products > Collections, click to open collection and then select template for it to assign it in a collection template

You also can bulk edit collections to add collections to a template

So if I want to create a new page for a collection, do I make a new template, based on another one, rename it and then assign it to the collection as per your directions?

Collections assign to Default collection by default. You just need to create a new template if you want to customize for a collection only.
