Help! New site, high views, no conversions

Hello!
I launched my site ~1 month ago and I’m hoping someone can take a look and provide some tips to help optimize it. I seem to have decent views for being new but can’t seem to make any sales. I’ve been working on updating alt text and SEO but that hasn’t helped. I know the images could be better but since I’m Dropshipping, I’m limited on what I can do there. Any other thoughts?

Hi @CM13 I’m Garcia from PageFly - Shopify Advanced Page Builder App. Generally, I love your store’s design, it looks classic but professional. From my CRO expertise, I’d love to give you my suggestions as hereby:

1. Redesign the wheel pop-up

A general rule of thumb is that the most effective pop-ups for boosting conversion rates are either shown on a website after 15 seconds have passed or triggered by specific user actions or behaviors.

To enhance the conversion rates of your promotion, a great strategy is to present it when a visitor is about to leave the website, rather than displaying it right at the beginning of their session.

Exit offers occur when a website showcases a pop-up or promotional message as soon as a visitor moves their cursor towards the ‘close’ button in their browser or when they switch to a different tab.

These offers have been shown to retain approximately 10-15% of visitors who would otherwise exit the site, as they provide an incentive to stay or make a purchase.

2. Resize the sticky header

It’s great when you have a sticky header which makes it more convenient for your visitors to navigate around the site.

Another thing you might care about is that the sticky header with the current logo might take significant space while scrolling with the logo above the navigation buttons. So I would like to suggest that you resize the logo and place the logo alongside the navigation buttons in the same row to save more space to showcase the products.

3. Invest in bespoke imagery and design

As you are already aware of, on the homepage of your website, you should:

  • Use bespoke homepage imagery that engages users and shows products in appealing lifestyle contexts
  • Use high-quality photography to create a positive tone and a good first impression on your visitors

Thus, please recheck all image quality on your store.

4. Make sure the styling is consistent

A crucial element for an online store’s homepage is the primary call-to-action button. This button serves as a direct link to the specific page where you want customers to take action, such as a collection or product page.

It’s great when you put the CTA button right where it should be. But please make sure it’s not easily overlooked like this:

You can consider adding the background to the CTA button to highlight itself on the banner.

Also, please make sure that all CTA buttons on your page have a consistent styling to boost the conversion rate.

Here is a CTA button with a totally different style, not to mention that the text is not well aligned in the center of the button.

5. Add more sections

You can pick up some informative sections to show on your homepage such as:

  • Have a benefit section: Adding a benefit section in the middle of the homepage will give your customers a reason to purchase from you instead of the competition. This helps reduce the bounce rate and increase the likelihood of purchase.
  • About Us section: A business can stand out with its brand story as it provides more insight about your business and also helps your store look more attractive.
  • Product details section: The more information you provide your customers with, the better they understand about your brand as well as your products. As a result, they are more willing to make a purchase. You can consider adding product details section - One of the best-sellers from your store should be showcased to catch more attention.
  • Instagram feed: Your Instagram content adds a fresh feel to your website by showing you’re active online and interacting with your customers.
  • Customer testimonials - customer feedback: Customer testimonials serve as evidence of the quality of your product. This segment will establish trust with potential customers. You have the option to display rating stars for individual products, or you can incorporate customer reviews in the form of text and photos.

Here is a demonstration of it:

And that’s my feedback! Hope it helps you boost the conversion rate.

Cheers!

Thank you for the response and clear guidance! I am not as knowledgable in the coding aspect and this is built into my shop template. Do you happen to know how I can update this if it’s not a customizable feature in my template?

Thanks again!

Hi Garcia!

Thank you so so much for the helpful list of callouts. All such good tips! I’ve started chipping away at the list and I’m hopeful with some work it will help increase the shopper experience.

Thanks again!

Hello @CM13 ,

This is Neha. I recently visited your store and wanted to share some feedback to help improve the overall customer experience. Here are a few suggestions:

  1. Filters are very important for customers to identify the correct product from the huge catalog. So, you should look for advanced filter options for your store.
  2. Make sure your social media pages open at the new tab instead of the same tab. This will ensure your customers stay on your website while looking at your social presence.
  3. You can add Sitemap on the site footer, again these also help in building search engine content.
  4. Also since you have just started you can have some promotional activity on the site, offer some discounts, and add a referral code that can help the first-time user to gain a discount on the second order.
  5. Add a Contact Us page, in that page add email address, phone number, and contact form for the visitors.
  6. Add a live chat option on the website.
  7. Put “Secured and trusted checkout with” in your footer.
  8. Finally, I would also recommend you try Sparq product filters and search to replace the default search on your store, this app allows advanced custom tag product filters for collection pages, synonyms, spelling correction, and other such features. Visitors with the search are high-intent users and their conversion rate is higher than normal users.

I hope you find these suggestions helpful in enhancing your store’s performance and providing an improved experience for your customers.

Best
Neha
