How can I add custom size options for products without creating multiple SKUs?

Hi there! I’m not sure if this is the correct forum channel for this question, so please direct me elsewhere if needed.

I am selling a product (handlebars) that some customers may want cut to a custom size. I would like to include an option on the product page that allows the customer Check a box to pay an extra $5 for custom-cut size, as well as a box that allows the customer to type in their desired size (or a list that they can choose from, as we only do half-inch increments and sizes only vary by 6 inches). However - I do not want to create multiple skus.

I already have my handlebars made, and simply want to easily include a custom cut-to-size option. Any info helps, thanks!

You can set your products up this way by using a third party product customization app from the Shopify App Store. I recommend taking a look at these ones in particular:

• Infinite Product Options
• Product Options and Customizer
• Best Custom Product Options

With each of these apps, you’re able to add product options, text boxes, price adjustments and more to your product without having to create variants with separate SKUs.

These apps are made by third party developers, so please reach out to the developer directly if you have any questions about the functionality or set up.

They all also have free trial periods, which is a good opportunity to install it on your store and work with it to see if it functions as you need it to before any charges apply. Just be sure to uninstall the ones you don’t want to use, before the trial period ends so that you aren’t charged for it.
