I recently signed up for shopify and I never started a store or have a plan. I want to completely delete/deactivate my account from shopify but from what I’ve found, there is no way to do that. It should not be this difficult and also should not require starting a store or signing up for a plan. Just delete my account entirely.

I understand you’d like to close your account. Just to clarify, whenever you make an account on Shopify, you’re also essentially starting a store. Since we offer a subscription service for business owners to build their own online stores, creating an account will automatically give you access to tools to start a website.
If you would like to close your account, the fastest way to do it is to log into it and follow the steps below.
- From your Shopify admin, go to Settings > Plan.
- Click Deactivate store.
- If applicable, then review the options to switch to the Pause and build plan, or start a new store.
- If you still want to deactivate, then click Deactivate store.
- Select a reason for the deactivation, and then click Continue.
- Enter your password, and then click Deactivate now.
This closes the store, however, your information will be kept for 2 years, in case you decide to reactivate your store in the future. If you wish to have your information completely deleted from our system, you may get in touch with our support team for assistance. You can refer to the guide below to do this.
- Visit our Help Center.
- Chat with the AI assistant and enter “account concern.”
- Click Chat with a Support Advisor as shown on this screenshot.

I never started a store or a plan so this deactivate option does not work for me. I only signed up to be a collaborator with a brand I liked but decided against it after I started to shopify account and want to deactivate/delete it.
