Hello! I was wondering if anyone can help me with this. My store does offer home pickup. Is there any way I can NOT display my address before the customer checks out and then just have them view
my address in the confirmation email?
I have tried removing my address but it won’t let me.
When utilizing the Local pickup setting, it will always connect to a location address from your shipping settings and the address linked to that location will always appear at checkout.
I have also faced this roadblock when setting up my own store for local pickup. I can understand the need to keep your home address private unless a customer truly is in need of it for their completed purchase.
My workaround for this was to create a shipping rate that is a custom flat rate. If you head to Settings > Shipping > Manage rates > and click “Add rate” under the zone you wish to edit, you can set up your own rate. Mark the price as “Free” without conditions. Under the rate name, I entered “LOCAL PICKUP - xxxx” along with the area where I am located (city/province/state). That way, for all orders, your customers can either pick a shipping method or local pick up if they are comfortable with driving to the area indicated in the rate name.
Another option would be to explore a local pickup application that might allow you to hide the address but it will likely cost a monthly fee. The option I suggest is free, straight forward to set up and easy for customers to use. I personally have not encountered any issues with this set up and I almost exclusively sell with local pickup chosen at checkout.
With all that being said, I will submit a request to our developers to consider more flexibility with the built in local pickup setting in hopes that it is included in future updates.
