I am struggling with the price of shipping. We are offering free shipping for orders $130 and up (domestic) and DHL and USPS for international. Prices with DHL went up so bad, sometimes costing half the price of the product. We don’t sell big volume so that could be a challenge. Does anyone have any suggestions of apps or options to be able to offer cheaper shipping options? Thank you

Thank you for getting in touch. Setting your shipping rates and deciding how much to charge is often one of the hardest parts of running a business, and it can take some time along with some trial and error to get right.
You may want to first consider whether or not offering free shipping is a viable option for your business at this time, once you’ve taken into account how much it costs you to ship items to customers along with how much profit you’re able to make on each product that you sell. I would recommend checking our our blog post that covers the benefits of free shipping, along with what considerations should be made when offering it to your customers.
In terms of getting discounted rates when buying shipping labels, do you currently use Shopify Shipping? This feature is available to merchants in selected countries and offers discounted shipping rates for specific couriers while being able to purchase labels directly through the Shopify admin.
There are also a number of apps on the Shopify App Store that offer merchants competitive rates when it comes to buying shipping labels. While there are a wide variety of options to choose from, apps such as ShipStation and Shippo are two of the most popular options that offer discounted rates from DHL, amongst others.
