Hey there @Boost
I am sorry to hear that you would like to cancel your Shopify account. Do you have a currently open store that you are trying to close? I understand that it is important to be able to manage your account and close your store when deemed necessary, so I would be happy to assist you with this.
The steps to close your store are as follows:
- From your Shopify Admin, navigate to Settings.
- Click on Plan.
- On this page you should see a Red Button that says Deactivate Store. Click that and follow the proceeding steps to cancel your account.
Note: Before you close there’s a few important things to consider, which are outlined on our help documents here.
If you are comfortable with sharing here, may I know why you have decided to close the store? If there’s anything I can help with such as growing your store, I’d be more than happy to assist.
We also have 24/7 support via live chat, phone & email that you can access at any time. Sometimes running into difficulties with certain aspects of your store can get overwhelming, so I wanted you to know we are always here to help.
If you decide to re-open the store at a later date, you can re-activate it again by simply logging back in and selecting a new plan.
Hi Rick
I have an issue…
Yesterday I tried to cancel the account to avoid charges. I was not successful as it indicated that I exceeded the limit of attempts to enter my password.
I request that the invoice received be canceled, because the system did not give me the opportunity to try and you do not have telephone numbers that help the client to receive immediate attention to correct these issues.
Hi @EricJose
Welcome to the Shopify Community!
I am sorry to hear that you are cancelling your account. Was there anything you were finding particularly difficult or hard to learn that perhaps I could assist you with? I’d be interested to know how your free trial went. Perhaps Shopify is just not right for you at the moment?
I understand that while trying to cancel your account you were faced with an error where the password attempt limit was reached, thus preventing you from cancelling before you were charged. This limit is in place to deter people from trying to brute force their way into your account by guessing your password.
While we do not generally offer any refunds as per our Terms of Service, in this case I would recommend reaching out to our support team and explaining your situation. We will try to accommodate you as best as we can, however I cannot make any guarantees of a refund.
We do indeed have options to receive live support, however we don’t have a telephone number available. What we do have are live chats, email and phone callback options. You can use this link here to reach our support team.
If you have a change of heart you can still re-open your store or even view your past bills, and your store’s information will be guaranteed for 2 years.
