I was just notified that Shopify is trying to charge me $500+ to renew my account, but I don’t want it renewed - I want it cancelled. When I try using the ‘Help’ page it generates an Internal Error.
It’s absurd that you don’t have a customer support # for issues like.
Please explain to me how to cancel my account - I have no interest in remaining on the platform (at least at the current moment). As well, please make this process easier for users.
In order to successfully close a store, any outstanding balance that you might have on your account will need to be paid for during the store cancellation process as explained in our help document here. I can understand that this isn’t ideal, especially if the amount being charged to your account is quite large. So to discuss your options further, you can contact our live support team for us to take a closer look at your account from our end and work out the most appropriate solution to help with deactivating your account.
I see you mentioned that you’re having issues getting in touch with our support team via the Help Center, however. We’re aware that some users are currently experiencing issues with accessing the Help Center, but the following steps look to have worked for a lot of users. So please follow the steps below to troubleshoot this on your end:
Login to your Shopify admin, and in the Settings > Storedetails section, ensure that all information have been filled in with no fields left blank.
If that still doesn’t work, please clear your browser’s cookies and cache, reset your wifi modem or router, then launch the Help Center via an incognito window.
Try another internet connection. For example, switch to a cellular network on a phone rather than using wifi.
You can also try using a different browser, such as Safari or Chrome, or use another device altogether, such as a different laptop or a mobile device.
