How do I change my email for a store I can't login to

I set up my shop using an email that no long exists (shutdown by university). It’s been a few months since I logged in and now I can’t verify since the email is shut down?

How do I move my shop to a new email, if I can’t log in?

Thank you for reaching out. This is something our accounts department will need to assist you with; they can verify your identity and then change the email we have on file for you so you can regain access.

Please contact our support team so this can be send to our accounts team for review. You can choose the “Can’t log in to your Shopify account” option and chat in with our team without being logged in.

If you’re unable to log in to your Shopify store because the email associated with your account no longer exists, you’ll need to take the following few steps to regain access.

  • You can contact Shopify support for help if you can’t log in to your Shopify account.
  • They may be able to help you change the email address associated with your account.
  • If you have another email address that you want to use for your Shopify store, you can transfer ownership of your store to that email address. To do this,
  • Log in to your Shopify admin and click Settings > Store > Ownership.

  • Then, click Transfer ownership and enter the new email address that you want to use for your store.

  • Finally, click Transfer Store.

  • If you don’t want to transfer ownership of your store or contact Shopify support, you can create a new Shopify store with the new email address that you want to use. To do this,
  • Go to shopify.com

  • Then, click Start free trial and enter the new email address that you want to use for your store.

  • Finally, click Continue and follow the instructions to create your new store.
