I was just mass customizing some products, adjusting styles. I noticed this purple Product category row, which seems to be automated, but I’m not sure which purpose it serves or how it influences my store. All of the products are already part of a collection. Anyone who knows what this feature is for?

A product category can be applied to each product and can help you manage your products better within Shopify. It’s also beneficial when using apps and channels that require certain specific details when setting up. For instance, when using the Google channel, they require your products to have a predefined product category in order to get approved. It may also help with tax collection as well.
In terms of this being automated, our system shares a suggestion for each product which you can accept or reject. If the suggestion is inaccurate or if you want to browse product categories for a more accurate type.
