How to automatically apply discounts to specific product variants?

I need discounts automatically applied for several products with their own variants.

I have “Product 1”, with Variant A, B, C, and D.

How do I set it up so that the free item is the same variant as the 5 being added to the cart? I don’t want customers selecting other variants for their free item.

For example, Buy 5 of Variant A, and get 1 of Variant A free, NOT Buy 5 of Variant A, and get 1 Variant D free.

As far as I’m aware, there are apps that offer BOGO features between different items/products, but I’m having problems finding one to select specific variants to apply the BXGY to.
