Large letter is 1g - 750g £2.00, Small parcel is 1g-5KG £4.
When someone buys an item from each profile and the total weight is 1.5KG, Shopify adds both of the shipping charges together. I want it so Shopify doesn’t add them together but instead uses the Small parcel price/higher single shipping price.
For example;
If someone buys 1 item from Large letter profile and shipping is £2.00 and they also buy 1 item from Small parcel profile and shipping is £4. Shopify shows total shipping cost is £6 but actually total shipping cost is only £4 because Small shipping profile is £4 for weight 1g up to 5,000g. So the customer is being overcharged by £2.
According to my research this issue still hasn’t been fixed. I have found forum post from 2020 for nearly 100 replies from people with the same issue. @Shopify_77 if this issue still hasn’t been addressed years later, why not?
Just being able to create a “combined shipping profile” and have the combined shipping profile trigger when combined items are in shopping cart, that would be a simple enough solution.
I can understand your concern. However, when using multiple shipping profiles, if orders contain products from different profiles or locations, this will result in combined rates at the checkout. Currently, the only available workaround would be to use an app to set up more specific shipping rules as mentioned by you.
If you are open to using an app, I suggest you take a look at PH MultiCarrier Shipping Label. The app allows you to create shipping classes & set rules based on product weight, quantity, price, and destination.

What I dont understand is why shopify has not fixed this. There are multiple enquiries over the past 3 years from customers. Yet shopify has made no changes. The ability for shopify to ignore developement request but still be the most expensive web platform is worrying. Capitalism over quality.
We’ve been having the same problem and as small businesses continue to suffer, Shopify’s answer to this solution is spend more money. This is absolutely ridiculous!
