Hi, @woohoohome ,

Hyde here from Shopify. Congratulations on launching your store! It is a very exciting experience starting your own business, so I’m glad you’ve taken this first step.

To increase traffic you need to have a strategy that includes content marketing. In other words, to attract visitors to your site you need to put content out into the world through whatever your preferred medium is to draw people to your store.

Social Media is the best and most popular route for obvious reasons, but the question you need to ask yourself is: what content am I going to use to communicate with my potential customers on social media?

The best way of answering that question is in actually knowing your target customer. What magazines do they read? What social media do they hang out on? Who influences their decisions? Are they high or low tech? Are they mostly male or female or neither? Here’s a great guide to creating customer personas so that you can create the right content to target the right people.

With that in mind you can decide on the content you’re going to create and what shape it takes. Some topics you could cover:

  • guides to using your products
  • products that work well together
  • your journey in starting this business
  • commentary on a major topic within your niche
  • interview with an influencer within your niche

Will you use a blog? I noticed you’ve got the first post up on your store already which is fantastic! There’s a great guide to building a blog for your business that I’d recommend you look at. Also, have you considered TikTok? Marketing is proving really effective on the TikTok platform, probably because it is still on the ascent as a new tool that everyone is joining! So you may find this guide useful!

You can use your content to help build your social media perhaps by using

  • quotes from interviews on Twitter.
  • graphics with product combos from your product guides on Pinterest.
  • video interviews on Instagram or YouTube or TikTok.
  • having your interviewee share the interview on their social profiles

Wherever possible, don’t forget to include Calls to Action that direct your potential customer to either visit your website or make a purchase. We have a superb blog post with examples right here.

I hope this helps for now, but do please let me know if you have any other questions! -Hyde
