Hello everyone,

I’m a new e-commerce business owner from Bangladesh. I’m starting my store on Shopify and want to sell products, specifically Posture and comfort products , to customers in the UK and EU.

I’ve learned that Shopify Payments is not available in Bangladesh. I’m looking for advice on how to handle payments from my UK and EU customers. I want to make sure the process is easy and secure for them.

Here’s what I’m hoping to get some help with:

  • What are the best payment gateways or services that work well for a store based in Bangladesh but selling to the UK/EU?

  • Have any of you had a similar experience? What solutions did you use?

  • Are there any specific challenges I should be aware of, like currency conversion fees, business registration, or bank accounts?

  • I’ve heard about services like Payoneer and Stripe. Do these work, and what are the steps to set them up properly?

Any advice, suggestions, or personal experiences would be a huge help. I want to make sure I get this part of my business right so I can focus on growing my sales.

Thank you in advance for your support!

Hi there, welcome to Shopify!

Since Shopify Payments isn’t available in Bangladesh, you’ll need to use a third-party payment gateway that supports international sellers. For selling to UK/EU customers, here are some common options:

1. Payment gateways that work for Bangladesh-based businesses

  • 2Checkout (now Verifone) → supports merchants from Bangladesh and can accept payments from UK/EU customers in multiple currencies.

  • Payoneer Checkout → can connect with Shopify via third-party apps and is often used by Bangladeshi merchants.

  • Authorize.net, Skrill, PayPal (via business account) → depending on availability in your country and banking setup.

2. Stripe & Payoneer

  • Stripe itself doesn’t officially support Bangladesh. Some merchants register a company in a Stripe-supported country (e.g., UK, US, Singapore) and then connect Stripe — but this requires proper legal setup (foreign entity, bank account, tax registration).

  • Payoneer works well for receiving international payments. Many Bangladeshi merchants use Payoneer to connect with supported payment providers or to withdraw funds.

3. Challenges to expect

  • Currency conversion & fees: UK/EU customers will likely pay in GBP or EUR, so your gateway needs to auto-convert to USD or BDT in your payout account. Watch the fees here.

  • Business documents: Most gateways will ask for business registration, tax ID, and a bank account. Having a registered sole proprietorship or company in Bangladesh will make onboarding easier.

  • Customer trust: For EU/UK buyers, offering familiar options like PayPal or credit card processing is important.

4. Suggested next steps

  • Start by checking Shopify’s list of supported payment providers for Bangladesh: Payment Providers and Online Payment Gateways (2025) - Shopify

  • Compare 2Checkout/Verifone and Payoneer for your needs.

  • If you want Stripe, you’d need to set up an overseas entity (UK or EU) properly — don’t use unofficial workarounds because Shopify can flag this.

:white_check_mark: In short: For a Bangladesh-based business targeting UK/EU, the most straightforward setup is 2Checkout (Verifone) or Payoneer integrated with Shopify, plus PayPal Business if possible. Stripe only works if you establish a legal entity in a supported country.
