How to validate older emails with Shopify Email app?

HELP!!!
We can’t find how to set up post subscription email validation and updating.

We are ready to start sending a newsletter. We set up the Shopify Email app and have the first email ready to go. However, we are not sure how to ask a subscriber, or previous customer, to confirm they want to subscribe and verify the details they provided. There are no instructions on the Shopify Email app page and we don’t see anything in the app itself.

We currently have a subscription form in our footer. So it appears on all of our webpages. We do not have an email specific page. We recently set up double opt-in. However, there are a few people who had signed up before this was set up.

I tried to login to Shopify using a personal email to test being able to access my subscription - no luck. I did not use that email to purchase anything so there is no account.

I can help you on this can you let me know how many subscribers you have currently and did you create a campaign in the Shopify Email app?

We have set up a campaign in Shopify Email

We understand that Shopify will not allow us to send emails to people who have not subscribed. However, we don’t know who explicitly does not want emails, and who just forgot to check the subscribe box. We watched a couple of testers using our ordering system and both missed the check box under the field where they enter their email address.

To remedy this, we have added a reminder to subscribe to every confirmation email that is sent.

Other confusion:
There are people in our customer list who have not purchased anything. And their status does not show subscribed. Around 200 of them are listed as abandoning their cart. Another 150 are in the system but did not order, did not abandon their cart, and are not listed as email subscription pending. So how did they get there?
Goals:

  • send message to pending people to check their emails to finish opting-in. Is there a way to send them a fresh link to opt-in? Of if they can’t find their email, I assume we tell them to subscribe a second time and watch for that email.
    Shopify won’t let us send messages to the pending group.

  • send a message to contacts that are not subscribed and have not purchased anything.
    Shopify won’t let us send to this group.

I realize we can pull the list and use other email software. But we really want to use the built-in system with the Shopify Email app.
