Hello, I want to integrate my Shopify store with a vendor’s Shopify store whom I dropship for. I want to be able to sync our inventory information with their store, and be able to automatically update them when an order comes through or it updates my customer when a product is fulfilled from the vendor. Is there a way to integrate this - does it have to be through a shopify app? Thanks in advance!
Topic summary
Integrating two Shopify stores (retailer and vendor) to sync inventory and automate order/fulfillment updates.
Key guidance:
- Full automation likely requires a custom app using API keys (credentials for programmatic access) from both stores. This enables reading/updating inventory, orders, and fulfillment status.
- If a custom build isn’t feasible, use partial workflows: Shopify Flow (automation tool) or the Order Automator app to trigger email/notification when an order contains vendor items. A person then manually updates the vendor or fulfillment.
- If the vendor can install an app on their store, the Mesa app could handle cross-store syncing.
Decisions/next steps:
- Confirm whether the vendor can install an app on their end.
- Choose between a custom app (full automation) vs. app-based/notification workflows (partial, semi-manual) based on budget and time.
Status: No resolution yet; options presented, awaiting OP/vendor constraints.
Yes you need to build a custom app to do this, because you will need API keys to programmatically access a store and make changes.
If you need help building a custom app, feel free to reach out to my team at https://orderautomator.com/contact.
If you don’t have the time or budget to build a custom app, you could set up email notifications using Shopify Flow or Order Automator to send notifications when an order contains products from the vendor, then someone can manually make the adjustment.
Do you know whether they would be able to install an app on their end? If so, we could help you with that syncing with our app mesa.
