I am seeing multiple orders from the same address in Miami Florida. Street address is 8550 Northwest 70th Street in Miami. Same address, different customer. I can assume this could be a forwarding business.
Same situation here. It is a freight forwarder, we’ve had high risk orders in the past that use this company. This time however it was not flagged as any fraud risk at all, even though the card’s registered address/ip does not match the billing. I think something might be failing with Shopify’s fraud detection. We canceled the order just to be safe.
These are used to ship out to other countries that don’t straightforwardly receive UPS, DHL, or USPS packages. My family lives in the Caribbean and when they order items often times their items have to go through one of these shipping carriers/facilities. My advice would be to always double check with the customers on these kind of orders- assuming it is not a high fraud risk!
This is 100% fraud. We started to see these orders and we ended up getting chargebacks on them. Not sure why the fraudster wants so many of our products. But now we have automated cancellations on any high risk order. I setup filters to shutdown orders from The same name, any instance of “NW” or “Northwest” AND Miami.
These are scams. There are hundreds of these forwarding companies that ship accept packages and then forward to Venezuela and other countries. They are all scams. You will receive a chargeback for fraud because they are using stolen credit cards. These forwarding companies know their customers are thieves and do not care because they are receiving money for the service. We get quite a few of these and they usually try to buy expensive items and often use several credit cards prior to finding one that will pass fraud risk. Cancel the order.
Here is the latest Fraud Address - The idea is that the carrier downstream of Shopify may change it as it’s very close to the 8550 delivery address. Stay Alert. Cheers. These variations below will cause chargebacks as well.
8454 Northwest 70th Street
Miami FL 33166
United States
Hi, I recently got an order from a similar address, the address they used was
8434 NW 70 TH Street VE544 MIAMI FL 33166. It notified me that it was fraud, I googled the address and it sent me to a Freight Forwarding business as well.
I canceled the order after I came across this site and seen everyone’s replies with the same issue. Thank you!
It is August 2022 and this scam is still going on. They ordered so many items from my store yesterday. I came to the conclusion that it was weird and i googled the address and its a warehouse in FL but the IP address is the Dominican Republic. It is so much traffic online concerning this address and the scam it presents. Once again if you see this address: 8550 Northwest 70th Street Miami, FL 33166, Cancel and refund the order immediately.
Hi, today I also received an order and it’s also the first order my website’s ever received after a month away from launching. Contains only 2 items but of a significant amount of around $200+. Shopify notified me that it’s highly fraudulent. I began searching on the internet which finally led me to this discussion. The address is:
8550 Northwest 70th Street
APT 85494
Miami FL 33166
Oddly, the IP address was pinpointed to the same area which is in Miami FL. But there were 4 payment attempts with 4 different credit cards, so it’s a red flag.
Better be safe, than sorry. I just canceled it. Thank you!
Someone by the name of David Valdez with this address tried to go on a shopping spree with my bank card this morning. Luckily the Fraud Department caught it and deactivated my card. I contacted the stores he was trying to purchase from, one responded and said that he had to use 10 different card before his transaction went through.
What is most concerning is that Shopify continues to allow this to happen. And when the thief finally finds a card that processes, we may cancel the order understanding this is fraudulent, but Shopify keeps their cut / fee and does not refund it. Getting robbed all around really. Shopify should refund these fees to merchants when known fraudulent orders like this are allowed to process.
Today, we received 12 Orders back to back and Shopify only flagged one of them, but marked it as Medium Risk. It looked like Fraud, so I am glad we googled the address and were brought to this forum to find out that it has happed to other businesses. Below is the name and same address they used this morning. I am not sure why Shopify has allowed this to continue for so long and its missing being properly flagged.
They can change their name and email endlessly but they don’t have much room to do so with their address (to where they need the goods shipped). So setting up filters for a few variations of Northwest in the address is the best way to go. I’ve gone so far as to automatically cancel any orders with that in the street addresss along with the city Miami. There’s legit addressses/customers in Miami with Northwest in ther shipping address but I’d rather have that one customer email us with an order issue.
Today I got charged around $600 through my PayPal for a Walmart order delivered to this address. How are they still doing this at the same location over a year later.
I just got 2 big orders from this forward address that was fraudulent within 3 days, I canceled the 2nd one but the first shipped out without me paying attention, and I got chargebacks from the bank + fees. No more shipping to this - Angels Export, 8434 NW 70th St, Miami, FL 33166
We had been scammed. The credit card owner got the money back. It was the Christmas of 2021.
And once they get you, they simply sell your information somewhere. And the other scammers come to us, using different emails/WhatsApps/accounts to place orders, but the shipping address was the same.
