Is Shopify the correct forum to be on to start a home cleaning business website?
Hi @yosimishu ,
That is an excellent question!
You don’t need to be actively selling products to use Shopify. Many Shopify users like yourself don’t use the platform to sell products. As long as you are operating in line with our Terms of Service and Acceptable Use Policy, you can use Shopify as you like.
How are you currently processing payments? With Shopify, you can also process payments in person using our Shopify POS app on your mobile device or iPad. In addition, if you are based in the United States, Canada, the United Kingdom, or Ireland, you can use a Shopify card reader to accept credit card payments anywhere in the world.
Even if you’re not in one of these countries, you can still take advantage of the Shopify POS, accepting cash payments and manually entering customers’ credit card details through the app. In addition, if you have a card reader you are already using, you can also select an “external terminal payment” option within the app when processing the order, which tells Shopify that you had accepted payment through a device not synced with the POS app.
Remember that the services you offer are products, just not in the traditional, tangible sense. Instead of selling physical items, you are selling your services to people who need them.
If the prices vary based on the job, you can always use apps like Request a Quote + Hide Price for service quotes. Instead of having the usual “add to cart” option, your potential customers can select “quote request”.
There are many stories from merchants selling services on Shopify. Feel free to check them on this link.
