Make Facebook Catalog use the second image from product on Shopify

Topic summary

A user asks whether it’s possible to set the second product image (instead of the first) as the default for Facebook Catalog when syncing from Shopify.

Current Limitation:

  • No native option exists to select a specific image order for Facebook catalogs
  • The default solution requires manually reordering images in Shopify Admin to make the desired image appear first

Proposed Solution:

  • A developer created “CustomPix,” a Shopify app designed to address this issue
  • The app allows merchants to select which specific product image (e.g., second photo) appears in Facebook catalogs
  • Currently in testing phase with select stores

Status: The question remains partially unresolved through native Shopify/Facebook features, though a third-party app solution is being developed.

Hi,

Is it possible to make the second image of the product default for Facebook Catalog instead of the first? So that the second uploaded image would be used for Facebook catalog?

Thank you

I’d also like to know the answer to this question.

Hi @Uros-Uros @Morphy101

There is no straightforward way to change the image in the Facebook catalog. If you wish to have the second image as the default image, you must change it in your Shopify Admin itself.

Hi @Uros-Uros @Morphy101,
I ran into the same problem many merchants face: Facebook pulling the wrong images from my Shopify store.

I ended up building CustomPix, a Shopify app that lets you choose exactly which image appears in your Facebook catalog (for example, the second product photo instead of the variant image).

We’re currently testing it with a few stores and improving it based on feedback. I know this thread is a bit old, but if you’re still looking for a fix, here’s the post with all the details:
