Started using Marketplace Connect a few days ago. Just made a sale on Etsy of a matching SKU I have in both Etsy and Shopify but the inventory on Shopify did not sync to deduct the unit.
Is there a delay? What am I missing?

Hello,
Josh here from Marketplace Connect Support.
By default, you’d typically have to perform the Link Listings process so that the app will be sure to determine to which Shopify product/s the Etsy listing/s would be associated. Here’s a link to the Link Listings for Etsy guide.
After the listing is properly linked, you’d also want to make sure that your Order Import Settings are properly configured; the app would only be able to deduct stock from the Shopify product/s through creating the order. If the order already made its way into the app but was not automatically sent over, you can manually import the order/s by going to Orders > toggle Import on the order/s > and then Save.
For further assistance, you may send an email to marketplace-connect@shopify.com or click on the Chat button on the lower-right portion of the app.
Hi Josh,
Hopefully you will be able to help me.
We are having serious issues with Marketplace Connect and link listings being inconsistent.
When i first linked all the stores, there was zero issues. All listings were matched.
It’s been a couple of months since we first set it up, but are now planning to exclusively move over that this service.
What I am finding, is that after these couple of months, ebay is now showing 0 matching SKU’s.
We have just had a rebranding and name change, so i thought maybe it’s because it using the old username.
I removed the current ebay link and created a new link, with the new username, and after doing that it showed all the SKU’s are matched again.
I come back to the office today, and they are back to 0 matched!
Also, with Amazon is that it was the same; had matched all SKU’s when setting it up, but now showing 0.
The strange thing is, Amazon is showing 0 matched SKU’s, but at the same time it is still actually syncing and updating stock.
I have tested it with one SKU, increasing the QTY’s on amazon itself, multiple times now, and it is syncing back to the QTY’s i have on shopify.
I’m honestly just confused.
Why is amazon syncing stock, when it’s showing 0 matched SKU’s?
Why does ebay say it’s matched all our SKU’s, only for some time later to go to 0 matched SKU’s?
It’s a mess, to be honest.
Any help would be appreciated.
Thank you
This is my finding as well. Before the transition (purchase?) by Shopify, the linking would work for me on a 1:1 ratio. Incoming orders would update in minutes and my inventory would adjust. Now, I sell something on eBay and it stays in my stock on the website. This has led to several items overselling (and then having to refund customers) and it’s frustrating.
For reference, I typically list the item to my store and then use the Marketplace Connect to create a listing on eBay from that store listing. This should link them properly, but the inventories do not sync properly. It’s so disappointing.
Hello,
For issues regarding Overselling, please refer to this article:

Hello,
The items you see on the Link Listings section on the Settings page isn’t so much a summary, but would only contain items if the app finds that you have existing listings that are yet to be linked to your Shopify products. In other words, if you’re seeing 0 across the board it means your existing listings are already linked to the Shopify products. If the sync of information seems to be working fine then the app is fulfilling its intended purpose.
If you need further assistance, please reach out via the chat button on the lower-right portion of the app.
Josh - I am having the same problem, anything sold in shopify updates inventory but if the items sell on ebay the qtys do not change. I have oversold 3 items this week - all of which I only have one of. I have reached out to staff and they tell me Im wrong and just wait. I am at risk of losing (my 20 years of business) ebay store, please assist
same thing happening to me, did you find a solution?
My Etsy listings will correctly sync to Shopify. The problem I’ve been having is that my Etsy orders will not sync to Shopify. There is no option to even manually sync and push them over. I’ve had a help tickets open with Etsy, Shopify, and marketplace connect - no one will help get this solved… This is beyond frustrating. I even downloaded ShipStation due to the new “requirements“ that were published last October… But still nothing works, and I have no answers.
Hello,
With the relevant policy changes, inventory sync may cause issues as the app’s only means to sync inventory is by creating equivalent orders. You’ll want to contact ShipStation to have this resolved being among Etsy’s recommended fulfillment apps.
