Meta Pixel

Topic summary

Issue: A store’s Meta Pixel (Facebook tracking tag) was live and firing in tests (Events Manager, Shopify Customer Events, Pixel Helper) but did not appear as linked/available in the intended Ads Account during campaign setup.

What was tried: The pixel ID was verified; the ad account was added as an asset to the pixel in Events Manager, but it still didn’t show up inside the ad account. Switching to a new pixel in Shopify didn’t propagate to Meta’s Events Manager (old pixel still showed). Shopify support cited third‑party limitations; awaiting Meta support.

Suggestions from community:

  • Re-verify pixel installation across all pages, including checkout.
  • Confirm required events (Purchase, Add to Cart) are firing.
  • Remove/re-add the ad account as a pixel asset in Ads Manager.
  • Ensure Shopify “Share data settings” is enabled.
  • Check the Pixel/Event Manager area where ad accounts are assigned.

Outcome: After checking Pixel Event Manager assignments, the original poster reported it’s now working. Status: Resolved; likely an assignment/visibility sync issue between the pixel and the ad account.

Help, please!

I have a pixel on my Shopify shop that is not showing up as linked to my Ads Account.

I have run tests to check if the pixel is working properly, and it is showing as live and connected under Events Manager data source. I have also run tests under Shopify Customer Events alongside the Meta Pixel Helper Chrome extension, and it is showing as live, etc.

However, while creating an ad campaign, I noticed that the relevant pixel was not showing up. I went back and assigned the ad account as an asset to the relevant pixel, but still, no changes.

I tried assigning a new pixel to my Shopify store, but it only made things worse, so I reverted to the original one.

I was able to get a reply from Meta through the Shopify app Meta team, but I haven’t received any further responses yet.

Any thoughts on what could be done, please?

Hi,

This is Richard at PageFly - Shopify Advanced Page Builder app.

It’s frustrating when a pixel, despite showing as live in various checks, doesn’t appear in your ad account. This often indicates a disconnect between Shopify and Facebook’s systems.

Potential Solutions:

  1. Double-Check Pixel Installation:

    • Verify that the pixel code is correctly installed on your Shopify store. You can use the Meta Pixel Helper to check this.
    • Ensure the pixel is installed on all relevant pages, including the checkout confirmation page.
  2. Review Pixel Events:

    • Check if the necessary pixel events (e.g., Purchase, Add to Cart) are firing correctly. Use the Meta Pixel Helper to debug.
    • Ensure these events are set up in both Shopify and Facebook Ads Manager.
  3. Verify Ad Account and Pixel Connection:

    • Go to your Ads Manager, navigate to the pixel settings, and ensure your ad account is correctly linked to the pixel.
    • Try removing and re-adding the ad account as an asset to the pixel.
  4. Check Data Sharing Settings:

    • In your Shopify admin, go to Settings > Apps and sales channels > Facebook & Instagram.
    • Ensure “Share data settings” is enabled.
  5. Contact Shopify and Meta Support:

    • If the above steps don’t resolve the issue, reach out to Shopify and Meta support for further assistance.
    • Provide detailed information about the steps you’ve taken and the errors you’re encountering.

Hoping my solution helps you solve your problem.

Best regards,

Thank you for your reply.

I have run all the tests, and I can confirm that the pixel is firing and events are being recorded. I’ve double-checked the pixel ID, and it matches.

Under Events Manager, I have added it as an asset to the relevant ad account, and it shows as added. However, when I go to the ad account, it doesn’t show as linked. I can see all the other pixels, both active and inactive, but not the one I need.

I have checked the pixel under Custom Events, the Meta Pixel Chrome extension, and Meta’s test functions, and everything appears to be working correctly.

I have spoken to Shopify, and they informed me that there’s not much they can do since Meta is a third-party app. I haven’t heard back from Meta since Sunday.

I also tried changing the pixel on my Shopify store, but it wouldn’t update under Events Manager. Shopify shows the new added pixel, but Events Manager still displays the old one.

Do you have any suggestions?

Hello Gutto,

Hi Sam,

It seems to be working now—thank you.
