Mobile app wont let me share products anymore

Topic summary

A user encountered an error when attempting to share products via the Shopify mobile app, receiving a “Sharing blocked” message indicating products must be included in at least one market. The issue occurred despite products appearing correctly assigned to markets and being shareable from desktop.

Root cause: Shopify’s mobile app recently implemented stricter validation checks for Markets settings, requiring products to be explicitly published to markets before allowing sharing—even when desktop sharing works normally.

Solution steps:

  • Navigate to Markets → Create catalog and re-add all products
  • Alternatively: Go to Products → select product → Publishing section → Manage Markets → ensure product is selected for relevant markets → Save
  • For bulk fixes: Settings → Markets → select primary market → Products and Pricing → bulk assign products

Status: Issue resolved after recreating the market catalog and reassigning products. One participant suggested logging out/in on mobile to refresh syncing as an additional troubleshooting step.

I am having issues sharing my products on the mobile app. I wasnt having these issues last month.

Every time I hit the share button I get this error:

Sharing blocked

To unblock sharing, this product must be included in 1+ markets. The place to control this is in the product details “Publishing” section in the web app.

I can share my product from my desktop, but not from my phone. My settings looks fine to my untrained eyes, all products are assigned to a market.

Hello @Planta_seca This issue is tied to Shopify Markets, and it’s become more strict lately. Even if your products look like they’re assigned to a market, the Shopify mobile app may still detect them as unpublished due to backend syncing delays or overlooked settings.

What the error means:
“Sharing blocked — this product must be included in 1+ markets.”

This means the product isn’t published to any market, even though it’s likely visible to you on the storefront and even shareable on desktop.

Fix it step-by-step (from desktop/web):

  1. Go to Shopify Admin → Products → Select a Product.

  2. Scroll to the “Publishing” section (usually on the right-hand side or bottom).

  3. Click “Manage” next to “Markets.”

  4. Ensure that the product is selected for each market you want it available in (e.g., “Canada,” “International,” etc.).

  5. Click Save.

Repeat this for any other products giving the same issue.

Why it’s working on desktop but not on mobile:
. Shopify’s mobile app likely added strict checks recently to ensure products are fully available in at least one market before allowing sharing.

. The desktop/web admin is more lenient (or hasn’t yet adopted the stricter mobile validation).

Bulk fix (optional):
If you have many products affected:

  1. Go to Settings → Markets.

  2. Choose your primary market (e.g., “Canada”).

  3. Click Products and Pricing.

  4. Make sure all the necessary products are listed there.

  5. You can bulk assign products to this market from this screen.

Hello,

I had to go Markets → Create catalog and add all my products again. I created the same market my products were in already. It seems something happened lately that made a change to catalogs or maybe catalogs were just added.

In any case, Goldi07’s reply got me on the right track. Thank you for your help.

I’ve had a similar issue before, and it turned out to be a small glitch in syncing between the mobile and desktop versions. Try logging out and back in on your mobile app to refresh everything.
