No joy adding Google Remarketing Code to a Shopify App

I’m trying to connect an app to a google ads for remarketing,

I’m finding the link to the documentation on Google Ads isn’t much help. I’ve created a Tag in Google Ads, enabled Enhanced Conversions, and attempted to set up their Tag using the Google Tag Manager, creating a container and linking it to the Google Tag, resulting in a conversion ID. However, this didn’t work.

According to the Shopify admin panel, it says " To add Google remarketing code… enter the number that follows ‘Var google_conversion_id =’ I cannot find this code anywhere from the assets I’ve created in Google Ads, can anyone offer up any advice for getting this bloody thing working???

According to Shopify support, they say it isn’t possible… hahahaha

Look forward to shedding some light on this one, many thanks

@OllieSuper8 I looked into this since we’re also Shopify Partners and have a few apps.

Did you contact Partner support instead of normal support? Do so in your Partner dashboard.

That ID is used by some. I checked out the source code of Yotpo’s listing and see they have it:

The format and confusion comes from it being a version in the old Google Ads interface, which is long gone: https://support.google.com/tagmanager/answer/6106960?hl=en

Thanks, Josh. I really appreciate the help.

I connected our Google tag with the Tag Manager, where I created a ‘conversion linker’ and a ‘remarketing tag’ with a trigger that is set to ‘page view’. I then submitted the changes. I feel that should work. I’m assuming we can just use the conversion ID we have and do not need to look for any other code?

Partner support has been contacted and has confirmed the steps are correct.
