Not Many Sales

Topic summary

A Christian apparel website owner reports minimal sales (roughly one per month) despite a redesign two months ago, failing to cover even the Shopify subscription costs. They’re seeking feedback on website improvements and conversion rate optimization.

Key Issues Identified:

  • Intrusive pop-ups: Multiple pop-ups appear too quickly and are poorly designed with disproportionate images, irritating potential customers
  • Product descriptions: Need compelling titles and bullet-point formatting; current descriptions lack persuasive elements
  • Product images: Repetitive images without showing different colors or angles
  • Footer design: Unprofessional appearance with emojis that should be removed
  • Missing elements: No banner at the top of the product listings

Recommended Actions:

  • Conduct competitor research using tools like SpyFu to analyze similar Christian apparel brands
  • Implement Google Analytics to track customer behavior, identify drop-off points (especially at checkout), and determine which products/locations to target with ads
  • Optimize for SEO and consider running paid advertising campaigns
  • Add trust signals like customer reviews, trust badges, and clear policies
  • Clarify traffic sources and target audience strategy

The discussion emphasizes that website aesthetics alone don’t guarantee sales—data-driven insights and strategic improvements are essential.

Hey! I’ve re-designed my Christian apparel website around 2 months ago but since have only gotten very minimal sales. Even before that I was only averaging around a sale a month. Which doesn’t even pay off my Shopify subscription so I need help! I need feedback on what you like about my website, what I need to change about my website and things I can add to improve it. Please give me feedback on my products as well. Also how can I increase conversion rates?

Hey,

After reviewing your website, I advise you to improve these areas:

Popup: The popup on the website is disproportionate, the image is not clear, and it’s lengthy, and it comes very soon as I land on the website. Please change the image, make it small, maybe activate the pop-up a little later after the potential customer comes on to the website.

Descriptions: Re-do the descriptions, have a compelling title, followed by a description in bullet points. The pointers also must be changed. Research competitors’ websites, along with similar products on Amazon, understand their descriptions and change them accordingly.

Pop-up again: There’s another pop-up as soon as I look at the product, please remove this. This irritates the potential customer leading to leaving the page.

Images: You have included good number of images, but all of the are same. Maybe show them in different colors, angles, or just show the picture without repeating the same ones.

Lastly, are you optimizing your website, products for SEO? Are you using ads? If not, try making these changes, and gradually run ads based on the performance.

Hey! Have you had the chance to check out what other Christian apparel brands are doing? A little competitor research could answer a lot of your questions. It helps you see how your site, products, and pricing compare — and what you might be able to improve to boost conversions. There are free tools like SpyFu that can help you dig into competitors’ websites and see what they’re up to. Just my two cents!

Your website redesign is a great step, but low sales could mean there’s a gap in traffic, trust, or conversion optimization. Here are a few things to consider. How are you currently driving traffic? Are you using paid ads, social media, SEO, or influencers? Who is your ideal customer, and how are you reaching them? Do you have customer reviews, trust badges, and clear policies in place? Also, what makes your Christian apparel unique compared to competitors?

Drop your store link, and I’ll take a look to give specific feedback! Also, how much traffic do you get on average per week?

wow after browsing through you store, i see your store looks great but i notice some things like the popup, no banner, the footer (make sure the footer is professional, try removing emojis from it and arrange it orderly), so try adding banner at the top before products listing, Re-edit your store pop-up form so it looks great, and also make the store footer professional, by doing this, i think your will be perfectly okay then, if you have any question feel free to ask

And moreover, you will need to get insight into your store performance to know where your paying customers are from where you are only getting leads, so you need to setup Google Analytics for the store, this really helps alot, it let you know which location and what product to focus ads on more, Besides, it even help you Know where your store needs improvement, for instance, you always see most client get to your checkout box and backoff, this will trigger you to know what is happening in the checkout page, getting there you might see that the checkout button is not responding, in that aspect it has shown you the issue, if not for the insight you won’t know where most of your client backoff from.
So i highly recommend Google Analytics to you, and if you need question on how to set it up feel free to ask me, i will guide you through it,
The reason i said this was that not all website that look good get sale, and soe website are not even standard enough but get sales, it don’t always depend on the website look, i think you should understand what i meant?
Thanks.
