I carry one of a kind products and need to control inventory based off of one variant, even when other options are available. For example, I have necklaces with unique pendants, but customers can choose their chain style/length. So if the pendant variant #1 is chosen, then the chain style the customer chose as well as the other 2 chain options for pendant variant #1 need to go to 0 inventory. I’ve seen recommendations for Shopify Assistant to do this, but am wondering if there is any way to do this with editing to the liquid/theme? I have the Paulo Alto Theme.

With the Easify Product Options app (which has a free plan), you can create Chain style/length options without needing to set them up as Shopify variants. This way, you can manage the inventory of your main product by tracking only the number of Pendants, without the Chain style/length affecting your actual stock. Here’s a quick example
