Own data getting tracked

Topic summary

  • Issue: A store owner reports that their own activity (e.g., test add‑to‑cart) appears in analytics and reports, skewing metrics, and asks if an app can fully exclude/remove this data.

  • Recommendation: Create custom reports in Shopify and apply filters to exclude internal data, such as “Session city is not [your city]” and “Customer is not [you].” This allows tailored views that omit the owner’s activity.

  • Scope/Limitations: No specific app was suggested. The advice targets excluding self data at the reporting stage rather than preventing the tracking from occurring.

  • Status: Guidance provided; no confirmation from the original poster that the approach resolved the issue. Discussion remains open.

My own data shows up in the reports and statistics etc and also when I add something to card just for the sake of checking if everything works.

I know that it is normal but is there an app or something else I can do to completely exclude or remove my data because my values change and get manipulated. Thanks for any help!

You can create your own report, you can filter it however you like, you can put session city is not (your city), you can put customer is not (you), you can do whatever you want. The world is your oyster!
