Payment

Topic summary

A store owner is frustrated with the payment flow between Shopify and their print-on-demand supplier (Printify).

The Issue:

  • When customers place orders, the owner must pay Printify upfront from their own funds to fulfill orders
  • Shopify only releases customer payments 3-5 business days later
  • This creates a cash flow gap where the owner needs to front potentially hundreds or thousands of dollars

Owner’s Concern:

  • As a student, they don’t have significant capital available to cover order costs while waiting for reimbursement
  • They opened the store specifically to generate income, not to invest large sums upfront
  • They’re having difficulty contacting Shopify support for clarification

Status: A community moderator has asked for more details and suggested reaching out to Shopify support, but the payment timing issue remains unresolved.

Why Am i needing to pay for others to order from my store?

I started the store because i needed money

Like i just dont have 5k laying around to wait for a week to get it back and break even it makes no sense

Hey there @Schylerrayem would you care to elaborate more on the issue you’re referring to here and have you already gotten in touch with Shopify support about this for clarity?

Im having a hard time contacting them.

Basically when someone orders, I need to pay printify from my pocket to get the order started and made, and then i get the money from shopify like 3-5 business days later… so if theres lets say 500$ of orders, id have to pay from my pocket and wait a week to get the money back… the point of opening a store was to make extra income ahah as a student i dont have thousands laying around to make sure orders are fullfilled.
