Payout question

Topic summary

Main issue: A long-time Shopify merchant received an unusually large payout that included 200+ orders from August–October, whereas payouts typically only include orders from the current week.

Observation: Those older orders did not appear in prior payouts, suggesting they were on hold and then released together for reasons unknown. “Payouts” here refers to Shopify disbursing processed order funds to the merchant’s bank account.

Key question: Whether Shopify changed payment processing or payout timing recently, leading to delayed disbursements being grouped.

Status: No confirmation, causes, or official announcements cited in the thread. The user is seeking troubleshooting guidance/clarification; issue remains open with unanswered questions about why those orders were held and released now.

Has anyone ever had payouts that include orders from multiple months ago? We’ve been using Shopify for several years now and up until now all of our payouts have been for orders placed that week. Today, however, we had a much bigger payout than normal, and upon looking at the orders it contained I found that there were over 200 orders placed from August-October.

These older orders were not on previous payouts so it seems like they were on hold for one reason or another.
