So out of nowhere, I get a notification in my admin panel that my account is under review. I have to go into the support, ask for it to be escalated. A day later, I get an email asking for some documents, which I promptly submit. Process seems to be moving forward, but I have read other experience’s where this has taken weeks, so just curious what to expect.
Hi @seif619
What you’re experiencing is actually a normal part of Shopify’s security and compliance process. Payouts or accounts can be put under review to verify your identity and business details. Since you’ve submitted all the requested documents (license, business verification, proof of location, ID), you’ve done the right thing.
The timeline can vary: for some people it’s a few days, for others it can take a week or slightly longer depending on the volume Shopify is handling. The best approach is to:
-
Make sure all documents are clear and match your Shopify account information.
-
Keep an eye on your email for any follow-up requests.
-
Avoid creating new payout requests or changes to your store during this time.
-
If you haven’t heard back after several days, follow up with Shopify Support to check the status.
In most cases, once verification is complete, payouts resume automatically.
I mean that makes sense, and I just want to add that I’ve not seen any posts of anyone getting anything resolved before two - three weeks. I just have been worried that it’ll drag on, and Shopify, in the meantime, has basically sent almost no communication.
It also hurts businesses, especially new ones to have holds that take week to resolve, no customer support number to reach, and any agent you speak it basically just saying that they have escalated it.
Hi @seif619
I completely understand your frustration — it’s definitely stressful, especially for new businesses relying on those payouts. Unfortunately, it’s true that some Shopify reviews and payout holds can take two to three weeks to fully resolve, and communication during this period can feel minimal.
The good news is that you’ve already submitted all the required documents (ID, business verification, proof of location, etc.), which is exactly what Shopify needs to resume payouts. At this stage, there’s not much more you can do except:
-
Check your email regularly for any requests for additional information.
-
Avoid making changes to your store or payout settings, as this can slow things down.
-
Follow up politely with Shopify Support if you haven’t heard anything after several days — you can ask for an estimated timeline.
I know the wait isn’t ideal, but once verification is complete, your payouts should resume automatically.
Hang in there — it’s a common pain point for new merchants, but you’re on the right track.
