Product Variant Limit - Advice?

We’re in the middle of developing our Shopify Store & ran into our first wall - Product Variant Limits.

Some of our products have over 100-150 variants in the forms of:

  • Size

  • Colour

  • Function

Every product we have is available in every colour & each product has their own set of sizes & functions.

We’re looking to get something similar to this website’s functionality, where the price & SKU is dynamically updated by what the customer selects: https://www.armacmartin.co.uk/collections/cabinet-handles/products/digbeth-plain-cabinet-handle?variant=41432707432625

How can we achieve something like this?

You can increase the number of variations by using -Variant Option Product Options

I’ve looked previously at “Infinite Options” and “YMQ Product Variants”, but neither achieved exactly what I was looking for.

Please reach out to our authenticated support team and ask for your store to be reviewed for increased variant limits. I can’t promise we will be able to, but we are happy to review exceptions on a case by case basis.

To access our authenticated support, please follow this link: Shopify Help Center. Next, you will want to follow the on screen prompts to sign in, choose your topic and issue and at the bottom of the help articles provided will be all available support options. It’s important to note that this request must come from the account owner account on the store as well.

If your business is not supported for a variant limit increase, we do have some potential work-arounds you can try here:

The Easify Product Options app is a great tool for creating unlimited product options, similar to what you’ve seen on your reference website. Here’s a quick demonstration on how to set up your options using the app :hugs: :

  • Create a new option set:

  • Add the Size options - using the Buttons option type

  • Assign your option set to relevant product(s)

That’s it! You’re all set. There’s no limit to the number of product options you can create. In addition to the Buttons and Image Swatches option types I suggested, the app offers a total of 25 option types for you to choose from.

The Easify Product Options app offers both a Free and Paid version. If you only require a simple setup like the one demonstrated above, the free version should suffice :ok_hand: .

Thank you for your reply, I appreciate your insights.

Extending our Variant Limit through official channels would be absolutely brilliant; so far, from what we’ve tested through various apps, we can only add flat costs or percentage increases to the “Virtual Options” which unfortunately won’t support our business model.

I’ll talk to the authenticated support team & report back my findings.

Unfortunately, the official support channels weren’t able to help on this occasion & recommended we hire a Shopify Expert to create a custom API for this feature.

Disappointing, as the only extra functionality we need is a higher limit of variants, no other special features.
